The world of Multinelli®

The difference.

On request of craftsmen we have developed an innovating line of semi-finished forms (washbasins, baby baths, bathtubs…) and sheets with dedicated dimensions in high-end solid surface designed by a team of international experts. The drive behind this is coming from the partnership between the solid surface fabricator Laurent Forton and his Italian colleague Antonio Dottanelli with as result the brandname Multinelli®, edited by the company Fortinorm in Belgium. Multinelli® is taking his position on the growing market of solid surface, but with his own original view. The approach and philosophy are not dictated by big international organisations or multinationals, but directly from the base, the user, the fabricator. So Multinelli®’s target is a modern structure with open free communications, quick response, high customer minded and innovation technology for the professional. We can focus to the essential : the right designs, the right dimensions and the right pricing. No-nonsense.

Motor Force.

As the youngest son of a Flemish-French speaking family he grows up in the multicultural environment in the North of Belgium where persistence, tenacity and a certain healthy dose of stubbornness are priorities. In 1986 he starts as graduate chemical engineer KUL to import and distribute the first European produced Solid Surface. These years are heroic because solid surface is hardly known. It is a job for pioneer to convince the first clients to discover the qualities and advantages of this new material. He suits the action to the word by taking part at several exhibitions (Batibouw Brussels, ISH Frankfurt, Biennale Kortrijk) to promote the solid surfaces. Through the permanent search of the best quality, more and more projects are confided to him. Together with his Italian business friend Antonio Dottanelli the 600 bathrooms of het Mezdunarodnaya hotel (World Trade Center in Moskow) are completed in solid surface. The growing expertise and technical knowledge bring new contacts in USA and Korea. He gets the Corian® Quality Network Award (nr.146) by Dupont de Nemours and he can take part in the workshop of LG Chem in Korea. By consecutive studying at the academy and School of Art, he can participate in the development, engineering and the production of new items in solid surface, resulting in the ergonomic range (2010, 2014, 2016, 2019,2021) of baby bathtubs 605, 606 and 607 or new super small washbasins 635. Innovating technology with a strong design are the junctions to the next development and introducing of the new brand of solid surface Multinelli® with slogan ‘Shapes in Motion™'. The philosophy is to improve all the time the best material with the best suppliers, getting the best design at the best pricing for the best craftsmen worldwide. Multinelli®, Shapes In Motion.

Multinelli® is Solid Surface.

Multinelli® is the brand of the collection washbasins and sheets in the trendy colour Pure White™ and is produced in premium quality solid surface as a blend of 2/3 natural fire-retardant ATH mineral powdered bauxite filler and 1/3 pure acrylic polymer PMMA. Solid surface is a non-porous massif, hygienic material without top coating (no laminated) and can be delivered as sheet (12mm) or forms (vanity bowl) who can be glued together resulting as one continuous virtually seamless piece. The glue is a special dedicated two-components system and the transformation looks like woodworking. By heating (140-180°C) the acrylic resin becomes thermoplastic, so the sheet can be curved easily to three dimensional jobs. Solid surface is limited too : heat-resistance and scratching-resistance. We advise to protect the worktop from hot pans in the kitchens by using hot pads or heat shields as placemats. The material is less harder than sand (silicon) and can scratch as stainless steel does. After a while, the surface gets its own patina. The advantage of PMMA is the high UV resistance and stability of colour. Aluminium-tri-hydrate ATH is an intermediate product in the metallurgic production process of aluminium oxide (bauxite) and is well-known as fire-retardant (substitute of contaminating bromic retardants) and smoke suppressor of plastics, textile (rugs), but as white maker too for the paper and paint industry. Because it is non-porous, no bacteria or germs can proliferate on the surface. The durable versatile character, the seamless gluing technics, the wear, chemical and impact-resistance, easy to clean and the satin touch are arguments to use this material in the sanitary & interior, double sure for pure design. The first solid surface is developed by Dupont de Nemours called Corian® in 1967. Nowadays several new brands are on the market, mainly coming from Asia (Korea, India, China, Japan) due to the booming business.
